HLH delivers 23 tools (200 sets of parts each) to Opel within 10-week timeline

This project was a complete bumper package, front and rear – 23 tools and 200 sets of parts each. We had a 10 week timeline to deliver all parts to the client for testing before full production tooling can be committed to.

Reaching Near Capacity

After review, only some minor changes were recommended to Opel. The primary issue was that our tooling department was near capacity and therefore required flawless execution to hit the deadline.

Finding a Solution

To ensure that we could satisfy this client as well as other tooling jobs in the pipeline, we adjusted the shifts and scheduled a 24 hour manufacturing solution for this period. The result was as follow:

• DFM: The DFM review period was 3 days between our report and the client review. Common design issues identified and adjusted for.
• Day 1: Project starts, client confirms drawings and mould fabrication begins.
• Week 8: Tooling complete, test parts run and shipped to client for review.
• Week 9: Client confirms test parts. HLH runs 200 sets and ships to the client the same week.
