Chromate conversion coating is a chemical process used to protect metal surfaces from corrosion. It also improves adhesion for paint and enhances electrical conductivity. It involves applying a thin, protective layer of chromate compounds onto metals, at HLH we can chromate conversion coat aluminium, zinc and magnesium.
The process is like other types of electroless plating. First the parts should be cleaned then they are immersed in a bath of chemicals with form a thin layer on the surface of the parts.
